Zebra S4M Ribbon Out Errors

A Ribbon Out error does not always mean the ribbon roll is empty. The printer may be configured for the wrong print method, the ribbon may be routed incorrectly, or the ribbon sensor may need cleaning or calibration.

Setting Mismatch

Thermal Transfer requires ribbon. Direct Thermal requires the ribbon to be removed and the Ribbon Use setting changed.

Clean Before You Replace

Turn the printer off and allow the printhead to cool. Clean the print line with an approved cleaning pen or isopropyl alcohol, let it dry completely, and run a test print. Never use a sharp object on the printhead surface.
